The two major awards in the World of Food, roughly equivalent to the Oscars
and the Golden Globes, are the James Beard Awards and the IACP (International
Association of Culinary Professionals) Awards. Deborah Krasner, CCP, (certified
culinary professional) has won both:
The James Beard Award, 2003, for The Flavors of Olive Oil
The IACP Award, 2011, for Good Meat
In addition, Deborah is the author of five other books, including the IACP Award
Finalist, Kitchens for Cooks, a home improvement best seller in kitchen design.
She has written extensively for magazines such as Eating Well, Food & Wine, Bon
Appetit, Real Simple, Wine Enthusiast, Vegetarian Times, and Parade.
In addition, Deborah has taught numerous cooking classes at Sur La Table and
Cookworks stores, and has also taught at Macy's DeGustibus and the Greenbriar
Symposium for Professional Foodwriters.
A celebrated kitchen designer (and the only Certified Culinary Professional to design
kitchens professionally) her design work has been featured in HOME magazine,
Saveur, House Beautiful, and in the book 50 Great Kitchens. Committed to
making personally customized kitchens for serious home cooks, Deborah offers
blueprint reviews (3 hours/$750) and whole design consulting (from beginning
to completion/$7500) on flat rate fees. She is currently working on a kitchen in
Bermuda, and recently completed a test kitchen design for www.thedialymeal.com.
